 Lab 3: Russia


    This week we were focusing on Russia. Russia is the largest Country in the world, having 11 time zones and reaching both Europe and Asia. While it is big, its population is relatively small compared to its size. the west tends to be more populated due to it having more mountains whereas the east is more lower elevation planes that are usually less populated. One thing that makes Russia stand out is its rich soil allowing for good agriculture. 

    today I made a map that shows 3 things: The area where black earth(rich soil) is located, how high the population is and what the GDP is. The map does show that the western areas have higher populations since the pink circles are larger compared to the east. I also noticed that the GDP is sort of randomized. there isn't much distinction is difference of GDP throughout Russia other than southern and north Caucasian that has lower GDP. One last thing that i noticed is the two areas with the highest population has a good amount of black earth in or nearby.

 Lab 2: Europe Population Over 65     Europe is a wonderful area with many perks. its soil is very rich and it is surrounded by ocean. Not only that but everything is relatively close together making it easy to travel from place to place. Surprisingly, even though Europe is in the northern area, the climate is temperate. this is partially because of the gulf streams bring warm water to the coasts of Europe which warms the wind. while it has many good aspects one thing that it is facing is its elderly population growing.      In this map it shows the what areas are higher and lower in population of people over 65. lab 1: global population projections

 Lab 1: global population projections          For this lab, I was looking at the world map instead of one smaller area. The different colors on the map show different areas population projection. The darker the red the higher the population is supposed to get and if a place is blue it means that the population is going to decrease. Based on this map the place that will increase the most are areas in Africa and the places that will decrease the most is Russia, China and Greenland. Something that I noticed was that some areas that are expected to decrease are still expected to have high populations. For example, China may be blue but is still expected to have the second highest population even with the decrease. This shows that while a population may increase or decrease it doesn't mean that they are going not have the highest or the lowest population.

                Hi, My name is Khaliya Jennings and I am a new student at Gulf Coast State College. This year I am taking world geography and I will be taking everyone along with me to share what I learn. A little bit about me is I am 19 years old and recently just moved to Panama City Beach Florida from Sonoma County California to go to college.
